Enrollment timelines for the first day of school

Enrollment timelines for the first day of school

District staff have been working to support new students and their families at the new district Enrollment Center, located at the Educational Services Center (ESC) in Anoka (2727 N. Ferry Street). Getting families off to a strong start in school provides connection, answers questions and ensures students are prepared for school success through times of school transition. An Enrollment Center open house event is scheduled from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3 to provide additional support ahead of the upcoming school year.

Important timelines: To ensure schools are ready to support all students in attendance on the first day of school (Sept. 8 and 9), all paperwork for new students must be fully processed by Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, at 12 p.m. (noon). This includes Proof of Residency and Verification of Birth documentation.

  • What that means: The school district is happy to support families with enrollment needs after Sept. 3 at noon, however, enrolling after this deadline means a student will likely have a delayed start date for the 2026-27 school year.

  • Why this matters: Once paperwork is processed, school teams can select a proper start date for each student and ensure that school staff, scheduling teams, and transportation services have the appropriate and necessary window of time to finalize school rosters, assign classes, and set up transportation routes before the student arrives at school. This ensures the first day that a student attends school, they are prepared and welcomed in an organized fashion.

Families will receive this communication when working with the team at the Anoka-Henenpin Schools Enrollment Center. Thank you for your understanding and patience as staff prepare to welcome each student to Anoka-Hennepin.
